Dear esteemed customers: According to a new requirement of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee regarding the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), effective from July 1, 2016, as a prerequisite for loading cargo, shippers must provide the verified gross mass (VGM, which is: gross weight of the cargo + weight of packing materials + weight of the container).

  Dear valued customers:

  According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee regulations on international maritime safety,

  a new requirement of the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention states that, starting from July 1, 2016, as a prerequisite for loading cargo, shippers must provide the verified gross mass (VGM, which is: gross weight of the cargo + weight of packing materials + weight of the container). Containers that do not provide VGM information will not be loaded (NO VGM, NO LOAD).

  There are two methods for providing VGM information as follows:

  Method 1: Weighing method: Use calibrated and certified equipment to weigh the container after the loading operation is completed and the seal is locked;

  Method 2: Accumulation method: Weigh all packaging, goods, pallets, dunnage, and other packing and securing materials,

  then add the weight of the container to obtain the total weight required for verification.

  Weigh the cargo, and then add the tare weight of the container to obtain the total weight required for verification.
