Nanjing to Yantai energy recovery equipment (oversized) sea and land intermodal project

From November 7 to November 23, 2017, the land-sea intermodal project for oversized cargo (TDI energy recovery device) from Nanjing to Yantai Wanhua was successfully completed. The maximum size of a single piece of cargo: 24.1×7.36×5.95 meters, single piece weight 98 tons, total project volume approximately 3200 cubic meters. 1. Land transport in Nanjing: Due to the large size of the cargo, the land transport in Nanjing was quite challenging. Our company arranged 12 cars and over 30 people to assist the traffic police in clearing obstacles (raising power lines, cutting off high-voltage lines, road closures, dismantling traffic lights and speed limit poles). Ultimately, all cargo was successfully transported to Nanjing overnight.

  1. Land transport in Nanjing: Due to the large size of the cargo, the land transport in Nanjing was quite challenging. Our company arranged 12 cars and over 30 people to assist the traffic police in clearing obstacles (raising power lines, cutting off high-voltage lines, road closures, and dismantling traffic lights and speed limit poles). Ultimately, all cargo was successfully transported to Nanjing Port overnight.

  2. Sea transport: Due to the large volume and varying sizes of the cargo, a pre-loading arrangement was conducted for all cargo before loading onto the ship, considering weight balance and hold capacity to ensure proper placement. During the loading process, the placement and reinforcement of the cargo were supervised throughout according to the pre-loading arrangement. After communicating with the owner regarding the higher center of gravity of the cargo, a temporary adjustment was made to a small part of the loading plan, and the binding strength of all cargo was increased to ensure the safety of sea transport.

  3. Land transport in Yantai: After the unloading of the ship by the self-owned crane at the West Port, all vehicles arrived at the port to pick up the cargo. After securing the cargo, transportation began. Since detailed measurements had been taken for this section of the road beforehand, the delivery to the Wanhua unloading site was relatively smooth, completing the project.

Through this sea transport project, a lot of work was done mainly on transport safety and obstacle removal for oversized cargo. Additionally, detailed written documentation was provided for ship loading and reinforcement plans, which received positive feedback from the owner. In future similar projects, better control will be achieved over the entire process of land transport project plans, pre-loading arrangements, and on-site supervision.
